Late-breaking themes, presented vividly by qualified referees, were characteristics for the SIG Day, to which the Special Interest Group Oracle E-Business Suite of the DOAG Deutsche ORACLE-Anwendergruppe e.V. had invited to on June 15th 2005 to Munich. The active contributions of the about 40 participants, who made ample use of the possibilities of Networking, were at least as important as the themes.
After the opening of the SIG Days by the PROMATIS-managing director Dr. Frank Schoenthaler, speaker of SIG Oracle E-Business Suite, the participants became the opportunity to choose the focus theme that was of interest for them. The financials-specialists found out from Dirk Blaurock how O2 uses the Capex Reporting for short-term control of Capital Expense. In the parallel session Michael Mohl of PROMATIS spoke of his experiences in the application of E-Business- and Collaboration-Solutions at the Wuerzburger Insurances. Bases were the Oracle E-Business Suite Special Edition, the Oracle Collaboration Suite and the think Collaboration Services! Impressive were the short implementation time and the high acceptance of the solution by the users.
Afterward, Tim Chlup of Oracle illustrated the conception of the Oracle-solution for enterprise contract management, with which not only business rules can consequently be transposed, but also considerable potentials for business process automation can be tapped. Following, Karsten Weber and Klaus Roemer from SEB, a financial service provider, spoke of their experiences from the change-over to IAS, and Klaus-Dieter Leifgen of Toshiba illustrated how the Oracle E-Business Suite ERP-Modules can be upgraded to a comprehensive E-Commerce-Solution with Oracle iStore.
After a lunch break that was diligently used for networking, Thorsten Hofmann of Oracle, impressed the audience with his presentation and showed how in the meanwhile Oracle Projects has moulted to a comprehensive Suite for project orientated business models. Parallel here to, Klaus Salmhofer spoke about efficient and intelligent solution strategies for the Oracle E-Business Suite at the world wide operating Knapp Logistics Automation GmbH. In the parallel session Guenter Blaha of CSC Austria abducted his listeners into the world of Customer Relationship Management and showed how with Oracle the 360o-view can be realized upon bank customers.
Dr. Frank Schoenthaler of PROMATIS gave a lecture of the topic Planning and Simulation and elucidated possibilities for strategic and tactical planning in the Oracle E-Business Suite. He especially responded to the Oracle products Demand Planning, Collaborative Planning, Enterprise Planning & Budgeting and Balanced Scorecard and showed how the planning tool Board M.I.T. can be integrated into an Oracle-environment.
The closing was given by Matthias Kenngott, GGB and Ulrich Janke, Oracle, who gave a lecture of the highly interesting application of the new Product Data Hub at the GGB, the world-wide largest manufacturer of metal-polymer plain bearings. The emphasis laid on the integration of diverse ERP- and CRM-packages by means of flexible Oracle Hub-Technologies. Not least for this final presentation, the audience became the sense of not only applying functionally comprehensive software with the Oracle E-Business Suite, but also having access with it at any time to important innovations of the software market.
The positive feedback from the participants shows that the SIG Day is an absolute must for committed users of the Oracle E-Business Suite. Together with the 3rd German Oracle E-Business Suite-Conference in Mannheim coming November, and the DOAG news, the SIG Day forms a mighty information- and communication-platform and enables an efficient cooperation with the producer Oracle.
